WHO ARE WE
Why ButterBee
Movement isn’t about burning calories. It’s how you play and feel alive. Launched in Singapore in 2024, ButterBee makes that easier: premium fabrics that feel soft, and designs that solve the small things, like shorts that don’t ride up, or a high-rise brief that stays invisible under anything, light and quick-drying. So all that’s left is the joy of moving.
The Name
“Butter” came first. We wanted everything we make to feel soft and easy from the moment you put it on.
The “Bee” was a little LEGO bee on our bookshelf, a Valentine’s gift from Wentao to Claudia. When we sat down to name the company, he looked at it and said, “ButterBee.” It stuck: a small love story, living in the name.
The Two Of Us
We’re very different people. Claudia leads design and marketing, and notices every detail. Wentao pushes for innovation, bringing new technology into how our pieces are made and asking what problem each one solves. We argue often, but our differences are what make us a good team. Every piece carries both: her eye for detail, and his insistence that it earns its place.
BORN IN THE HEAT
Singapore is one of the hardest places in the world to make activewear. There are no seasons here, only heat and humidity all year round. Sweat doesn’t evaporate the way it should, and there’s no off-season to wait for.
So we start with fabric, developing pieces that keep you cool and fresh, whether you’re training outdoors or indoors.
And our weather is becoming less unusual. As the climate changes, humid heat is reaching more of the world. What we make here is made for everyone learning to live with it.
HOW WE MAKE
Fabric First
Every piece starts with how it feels. Our Mochi Cloud and Poised Rib fabrics are soft, stretchy and light against the skin. We make room in the garment for air to move through, so you cool down faster, indoors or out.
Tested In The Heat
We live and train in Singapore’s heat, so that’s where we test. On our own runs and with our community, we look for the little things that get in the way, and keep refining until they don’t.
Anywhere Wear
Made to move with your day: from a morning run to coffee, the office, or dinner after. Clean lines and a soft feel mean it never looks out of place, so you don’t need to change in between.
Earth In Mind
We care about this, and we keep working at it. Where we can, we choose more sustainable materials. Our packaging is all paper, and we skip hang tags to cut plastic. Small steps, taken seriously.
FROM OUR HEARTS TO YOURS
"ButterBee embodies our personal transformation journey.
We used to be fearful of taking risks and constantly seeking to conform. It was through outdoor sports, especially hiking/trailrunning, that we experienced the earth-shattering liberty of mind and boundless happiness.
Running in the mountains also allowed us to break through our shells and found our authentic selves. It helped us see clearly who we are, and the value we wish to bring to the world. The experience of transformation fuelled our courage to launch ButterBee.
Based in Singapore, we live and train in the same heat as the women we design for - and we build ButterBee alongside them, listening closely to our community.
By bringing to the world our thoughtfully designed activewear made in meticulously selected fabric, we hope to inspire more people to enjoy movement, and to embrace the joy and freedom that comes with it."
